Mr. Francis B. Drake, Town Engineer to the Mowbray Municipality was selected by the Mowbray Council out of a large number of applicants for the position he now holds.

It was a pleasure to me during the two

years I was Mayor and also the time I was Chairman of Public Works to have such valuable assistance as that rendered by Mr.

Drake.

Many important public works have been carried out by Mr. Drake during the time he has been with the Council and some of considerable magnitude, all of which he has been responsible for from the preparation of the plans and specifications to the final completion of the works.

It is very satisfactory to note that the cost of the works has come out considerably below the estimates and #gtits still maintaining that high standard of work which is

a credit to all concerned.

Mr. Drake has fully maintained the high qualifications which he brought with him to this Municipality

and in addition he has added considerably to his experience in

being able to combine his home qualifications with those alter – -ed conditions which apply to South Africa.

I shall feel sorry to lose Hr. Draka's

services here, but at the same time I feel that a gentleman

with his abilities is eminently fitted for a higher and more

important position.
